The short version
- This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking of any kind.
- If you email me, I use your message only to reply and, if we work together, to run your project.
- I never sell your information or add you to marketing lists.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Who I am
CharIT180 is run by Máté Halgat, based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. I'm responsible for deciding how your personal information is used (under data protection law, this makes me the "controller").
For any question about this notice or your information, email info@charit180.com.
What I collect
When you email me
Your name, email address and anything you choose to include in your message, such as details about your charity or your website.
If we work together
Contact details for the people I work with at your organisation, information about the project, and the records needed for quotes and invoices.
When you visit this website
Like almost every website, the server that hosts this site automatically records basic technical information about each visit: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, and your browser and device type. These are called server logs. I don't use them to identify or profile visitors.
Why I use it
Data protection law requires a legal reason (a "lawful basis") for each use of personal information. Here's mine:
| What | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Emails you send me | To reply and discuss what your charity needs | Legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before a contract |
| Client and project details | To plan, build and support your website | Contract |
| Invoices and financial records | To meet tax and accounting requirements | Legal obligation |
| Server logs | To keep the website secure and working properly | Legitimate interests |
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 2 years after we last spoke, in case you get back in touch, then deleted.
- Client and project records: 6 years after the project ends, because UK tax rules require business records to be kept.
- Server logs: kept for a limited period by my hosting provider and then deleted automatically.
You can ask me to delete your information sooner, unless I'm legally required to keep it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- ask me to delete your information
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to how I use it
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
To make a request, email info@charit180.com. It's free, and I'll respond within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact me first so I can put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If anything changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
